Our "Ready To Be" campaign is here to help you with any feelings of isolation, loneliness, or general struggles with wellbeing.
Being Connected with friends, family, and the wider community:
- helps you to build a sense of belonging and self-worth
- gives you an opportunity to share positive experiences
- provides emotional support and allows you to support others
Our video above has a host of ideas for you to try, and also offers a glimpse at what we have to offer.
You'll be able to find more information on maintaining a physically and mentally healthy lifestyle on the Blaby Staying Healthy Partnership website.
Walk Together is a physical activity initiative offering a weekly programme of free, sociable and accessible group walks within Leicestershire led by trained volunteer walk leaders.
These walks run weekly, there is free parking at the meeting place and dogs must be kept on a lead if brought. Walks start:

A half-term puppet show for all the family

One crisp winter's day in the park, Oldilocks finds a teddy bear and remembers a delicious bowl of porridge she tasted years ago in the woods. Something else happened but she can't quite remember what…
A wonderfully funny and warm-hearted celebration of the classic story starring an eccentric old lady, three cuddly bears who love their breakfast and some steaming bowls of porridge.
Award-winning Garlic Theatre, renowned for their quirky and inventive family shows, have given this familiar tale a fresh twist that will fire up the imagination of children and adults alike.
This performance is funded by the European Regional Development fund and Central Government.
Leicester Comedy Festival in Blaby District
A taste of the Leicester Comedy Festival in Blaby District's Big Weekend running 10-12 February 2022
Leicester Comedy Festival is the UK's longest-running comedy festival, and the BIG Weekend is all about spreading the laughs around the county.
A hugely popular success in 2019 and 2020 (with a lockdown break in 2021) Blaby District's BIG Weekend is BACK. The BIG Weekend will give Blaby District residents a taster of the very best Leicester Comedy Festival has to offer.
With a fantastic line up of stand-up comedy, as well as shows and events, including many suitable for children and their families, there is something for everyone to see and enjoy.
Thursday 10 - Monday 14 February Fosse Foxes Joke Trail
Fosse Foxes have been trying their hand at telling jokes! Scan the QR code by a fox for a comedy story or joke.
Friday 11 February Jarlath Regan: Live at the Hub

Multi-award winning Irish comedian, writer, organ donor, basketball lover and podcast sensation Jarlath Regan brings his show to the Menphys hub for one night only.

If you are looking to try a new sport or exercise class in 2022, then JUST Get Involved is the perfect place to start.
JUST Get involved is offering women of all ages and abilities the opportunity to try out over 100 local classes and activities from badminton to boxercise for just £3 a session!
Not only can you access sessions at a reduced cost, but you can also collect free goodies for your attendance. Attend four sessions to claim a free JUST water bottle and eight sessions for a free JUST T-shirt.
The programme is running from now until 20 March, so there is still plenty of time to sign up and access all the JUST Benefits.
Blaby Hall Light Projection Show

We will be hosting a spectacular light projection show at the Sowden Group owned Blaby Hall. As well as the light show, there will be a lantern decorating competition for children and stalls selling local gifts, produce, food and drink.

The projection show is free to all and funded by the European Regional Development fund and Central Government.

Swimming Teacher positions available
Active Together are looking for more swimming teachers across Leicester and Leicestershire, and full training is available through the Swimming Teacher Recruitment Academy.
The opportunity is open to adults of all ages and includes opportunities across Leicester and Leicestershire.
This training package is a great pathway to a rewarding career teaching children and adults vital life skills.
Teaching swimming is an active and rewarding role. Work hours are generally part-time and there are a variety of working hours available across weekdays and weekends for these roles.

Steady Steps Falls Prevention Progammes
Steady Steps 24-week programmes are for adults age 65+ who feel unsteady on their feet and may even have a history of falls and fractures.
Each class involves elements of mobility, cardio, balance, resistance work and adapted Tai Chi all guided by our friendly, experienced instructors.
For those who are eligible, new programmes are starting soon in Glen Parva and Leicester Forest East. Get in touch by Friday 11 February to secure one of the final spaces!
If you're already somewhat active and need a bit more confident with your balance, you might benefit from a more advanced Steady Steps Plus class. Spaces are available in the following locations:

Love Blaby Lottery
Next month we are celebrating the Love Blaby Lottery's fourth birthday!
The birthday draw takes place on Saturday 26 February and we are running special promotions for new organisations that register in time as well as supporters with tickets in the draw.
It's free to join and new causes will be in with a chance to win £250 for their organisation! More information about these special promotions is available on the Council's lottery web page.
Sports clubs are encouraged to apply for an Everyone Active Grant of up to £500. The next deadline for application submission is Wednesday 2 March 2022 at 5pm.
